Scammell Artic Eight 1931 Unlike most other lorry manufacturers Scammell produced the complete articulated vehicle designed for the most part to be permanently coupled. The bow-front of the trailer maximised the load-space and the sloping cab back gave clearance on slopes. The Gardner 6LW engine transmitted power to the wheels by chain drive and the front axle was unbraked so the 20 ton gross weight took some stopping. |
